What?

Catapult & Fortum partnered to organise an official Slush Partner side event, where the dynamic forces of corporate innovation joined together on an interesting theme: How to utilise both internal and external innovations in corporations.

This event was not only about highly inspirational keynotes. The real value lied in roundtable discussions where corporate innovation experts collaborated together sharing their thoughts, learnings and challenges.

For who?

The event brought together a highly influential audience of international and Finnish corporate leaders with a shared passion for driving change and embracing innovation.

This event was designed for people who work to find external innovations and solutions for internal problems and development areas.

Where?

The event was held at a historical railway locomotive maintenance hall, Ravintola Veturitallit, in Helsinki Finland.

Terry Rim is in charge of exploration & scouting at the Next Business Innovation Lab, Wärtsilä, a global leader in innovative technologies and lifecycle solutions for the marine and energy markets. He is responsible for the technology scouting for emerging digital technologies and mapping out the appropriate landscape within the Energy business, among other things.

Dr. Yingzhi Zhu Ryberg

With a background in management consulting, research, accounting, entrepreneurship, and advising startups, Yingzhi has left their mark in various fields.

Samuli Savo

Samuli is a seasoned business executive with an impressive track record in go-to-market strategies, innovation management, and organizational transformation. At present, they hold a pivotal position as the P&L leader for the Emerging Business Business Unit at Stora Enso, a global renewable materials company with a substantial 12 billion EUR in revenue.

Marja Konttinen

Marja Konttinen

Marja Konttinen is a marketing professional with an extensive background in the games industry. Before founding her own company, Marja was the Marketing Director at Decentraland, the first fully decentralized metaverse owned by its users. She is an educator who loves introducing and inspiring people to embrace emerging technologies.

Mervi Hynönen

Vice President of Innovation and Venturing at Fortum

Mervi Hynönen

Mervi Hynönen is the VP of Innovation and Venturing at Fortum, a Finnish clean-energy company. Over the years, she has held various positions in the company, including Head of Innovation and New Technologies, on top of her current role. Her expertise lies in driving growth and competitiveness through continuous improvement, new business opportunities, and strategic investments. Mervi has Master of Science degree in Economics.

Mari Avikainen

Research Lead at Catapult

Mari Avikainen

Mari has an extensive knowledge on corporate innovation from leading a research team at Dow Jones to her current position as the research lead at Catapult.

In her current position, Mari leads a team of analysts with the focus on investigating emerging technologies and the innovation field for corporate clients' development needs.

Linnea Anttila

Co-Founder of Biowizard (Fortum)

Linnea Anttila

Linnea is one of the Co-Founders of Fortum's internal venture biowizard - a digital biodiversity strategy and guidance tool for companies. She is a strong believer in the power of utilising customer-centric innovation methods for sustainability transitions. This is why she feels passionate about the approach biowizard is taking in making the biodiversity journey more understandable and approachable for businesses.

Tii Suokivi

Co-Founder of Biowizard (Fortum)

Tii Suokivi

Tii is one of the Co-Founders of Fortum's internal venture biowizard - a digital biodiversity strategy and guidance tool for companies. She is passionate about building new creative innovations to help companies to become more sustainable and tackling biodiversity loss.
